HOW DID THE COWS CROSS THE ROAD?
The Beartown Constable was patrolling the town's back
roads on his bicycle. As he was passing the fertile fields along
River Road he saw young Ivan Tibbets and seven cows standing by a
gate. He stopped and spoke with the lad who appeared to be quite

"Well, yes there is. I have to put these cows in the pasture on
the other side of the road and they won't cooperate. There are
black and white Holsteins and 4 brown Jerseys. I can only hold
on to 2 cow collars at a time and take two cows across the road.
If they aren't held by the collar they will run down the road. The
larger Holsteins get mean to the smaller Jerseys if they outnumber
them. I’ve been trying for an hour to get these cows across and every
way I try, I leave more black and white cows than brown cows alone on
one side of the road or the other! Can you give me a hand?”

across the road without any trouble." said the

Beartown's famous blind writer, recently made a $5,000 bet with his
friend Willie Pastor.

Amos $5,000 that he
could put six ice cubes into a glass and have
Amos place it into
his wall safe. Within an hour, Willie
would enter the locked room, open the safe, remove the ice, replace it
with cola, close the safe and leave the room all without being heard by
the blind writer.
The next evening, Amos
listened carefully as Willie
dropped exactly six ice cubes into a glass.
Amos felt the ice
cubes and placed the glass into the safe.
Willie left the room
taking along a bottle of cola. An hour later,
Willie's knock at his
door. After admitting Willie,
directly to his wall safe, opened it and removed the glass. It was
half full of a liquid which Amos
verified as cola by tasting it. He paid
Willie the $5,000.

Constable and explained what had taken

this scam being committed.
