PROFESSOR'S  TELEPHONE  NUMBER

Professor Americus DeBear is the esteemed Chairman of the Math Department of Beartown University.  However he happens to be extremely absentminded but uses his extraordinary math ability to overcome this problem. 
For example he remembers his seven-digit telephone number as: THE ONLY SEVEN-DIGIT NUMBER WHICH IS CONVERTED INTO A FACTOR OF ITSELF WHEN THE ORDER OF ITS DIGITS IS REVERSED.
WHAT IS THE PROFESSOR'S PHONE NUMBER???

LUNCH with the MAYOR

Several years ago, the Beartown Mayor was in the Calories & More Diner getting ready for lunch when the Beartown Constable sat down at the same table. 
"Shall we flip for the lunch checks?" said the Mayor.
"I'll tell you what," said the Constable "If your check comes to exactly $1.15, I'll pay it.  If not, you pick up the checks."
"Agreed." said the Mayor.
However, although food items at all prices were available, and although the Mayor tried his best to be billed for $1.15, nevertheless he was stuck with the checks.  WHY?
(The situation is one which is frequently encountered, although the amount of money involved may vary.)

SOLUTION: At that time, meals tax was 4 cents on purchases of 76 cents to $1.10, and 5 cents tax on purchases of $1.11 to $1.35.  Therefore, a bill of $1.15 cannot occur.
