Bruin DeBear's BRUIN in CANADA Yes, it was once again time for my annual vacation and I once again went to Atlantic Canada. Food, scenery, and history were my main interests. I always try to patronize any animal business such as BEAR radio 104 in Maine, the BEAR'S Den Bed & Breakfast in Shelburne NS, the Aspy BEAR Crafts & Gifts and The Clucking Hen Cafe on the Cabot Trail, and the Red Rooster Country Store in St. Stephen NB. Molasses was sometimes served with fried bread. GOOD! GOOD! GOOD! But mostly I had fish and clams and fish and lobster and fish and mussels and fish!!! Everything's fishy.
The scenery was
terrific everywhere. It's hard to pick my favorite places
but the Cabot Trail in the Cape Breton highlands, where
there was still snow, are on top of the list even if some
views made me dizzy. Next would be the ocean and boats
all around Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and the
Magdalen Islands. Bears usually don't like cities but
Halifax NS is GRRREAT!!! I saw great history at many Provincial Museums. My favorite was the Alexander Grahm Bell Museum in Baddeck NS. I never knew he did research on planes, hydrofoil boats, air conditioning, and the deaf. At the authentic old town in Sherbrooke NS. I even had my picture taken with an 1800s camera and was presented with a GLASS photo! Now its back to work at Beartown News. In my spare time I will be looking for berries and taking notes on nuts and apples for the fall. Also I have many cans of fish from my trip that I need to stash away in my cave. Hope you all have a GREAT summer!!!
